Community Reading Centres
Before the Reading Centre was part of his life, Michael struggled to read. Today he is in grade ten and enjoying school.
Learning to switch between his languages, Vincy Twang and English, has helped Michael to successfully acquire his second language - English.
Our Reading Centres are computer based. Using Rosetta Stone Language Software students like Michael learn to know and read English through associating pictures with spoken words. Our staff is trained to use the software, affirm Vincy Twang and teach students to switch between the languages.
Self-esteem is built as students are given the opportunity to tutor each other.
Community is strengthened as students gather in small groups around a computer correcting, encouraging and learning to read together.
Our Reading Centres give back to the community. They instill purpose and potential in the family, church, culture and community. They restore dignity and hope.
“Now I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” says Michael.
